Draft Grade — Chiefs

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chiefs and Strong: B-. The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ian Strong, the No. 76 name on the board, in Round 4, Pick 14. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane in No. 14 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jonah Coleman
No edge and no loss on Jonah Coleman in pick 45; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick79
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Value with a capital V on Michael Taaffe in the 79th overall pick, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick114
Rnd4
Ian Strong
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ian Strong in Round 4, Pick 14, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Iheanachor. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick178
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
