The Commanders got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

The phones were a trap the Commanders kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Nwankpa left real value on the table behind him. Bernard at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
