Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesC FutureB
The 49ers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Luke Lachey, 52 picks early at the 153rd pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Parrish. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Armand Membou
They did well to land Armand Membou in Round 1, Pick 15, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49 Rnd2 Omarr Norman-Lott
A big swing on Omarr Norman-Lott at the 49th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in the 75th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick100 Rnd3 Sai'vion Jones
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sai'vion Jones well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jaylin Lane
By-the-book stuff, Jaylin Lane at pick 113 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick118 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton at slot 118 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at Round 4, Pick 36 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jacob Parrish
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jacob Parrish in No. 147, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick153 Rnd5 Luke Lachey
They talked themselves into Luke Lachey at the 153rd overall pick, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at pick 160 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick227 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
No drama and no debate, Carson Vinson went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249 Rnd7 Warren Brinson
Warren Brinson in slot 249 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick252 Rnd7 Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the 252nd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
