A solid, sensible weekend for the Buccaneers: B-. The Buccaneers went off the board in a big way for Red Murdock, 111 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Getting Parker II where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Murdock pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick46
Rnd2
CJ Allen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing CJ Allen in slot 46. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick77
Rnd3
Red Murdock
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Red Murdock while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots sat open.
Pick116
Rnd4
Brian Parker II
You do not let an offensive lineman like Brian Parker II reach the 116th overall pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick153
Rnd5
Cyrus Allen
They robbed the room for Cyrus Allen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick193
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
A conviction pick on Le'Veon Moss at pick 193 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick229
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings at pick 229 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor itch, scratched.
