AlphaBoi DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns kept it disciplined and banked a B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Browns started one anyway for Dayon Hayes, 98 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Rourke. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In No. 2 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaxson Dart. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tyler Baron
They paid a round early for Tyler Baron in the 67th pick, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick94
Rnd3
David Walker
They talked themselves into David Walker at Round 3, Pick 30, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jah Joyner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jah Joyner in the Round 4 slot, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in slot 165 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick181
Rnd6
Bhayshul Tuten
They barely believed it either: Bhayshul Tuten still on the board at the 181st overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Dayon Hayes
Dayon Hayes at pick No. 194 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Kurtis Rourke
They will replay Kurtis Rourke at No. 202 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick216
Rnd6
Zeek Biggers
They went early on Zeek Biggers in Round 6, Pick 38, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick217
Rnd6
Jeremy Crawshaw
Jeremy Crawshaw in the 217th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick257
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Torricelli Simpkins III at pick 257. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
