Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureD
Daniels is the Falcons' new face under center. Grade: F.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Falcons did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. If Crumedy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left running back open, and the grade is the bill.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Daniels at the 4th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jonah Elliss
No edge and no loss on Jonah Elliss in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 74 with a little surplus value in Brenden Rice. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
Nothing to complain about; Dominick Puni went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick145 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nehemiah Pritchett in Round 5, Pick 9. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Harrell at pick 189 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jaden Crumedy
Jaden Crumedy at the 201st pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick227 Rnd7 Marcus Harris
They took Marcus Harris at par in slot 227, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick244 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Zion Logue at slot 244 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
