Draft Grade — Falcons

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Falcons and Gould: B-.

Call it larceny. Anthony Gould sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Falcons did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Every board in the league had Solomon lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin in the 43rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74 Rnd3 Javon Solomon
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick79 Rnd3 Junior Colson
They barely believed it either: Junior Colson still on the board at the Round 3 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
A tidy bit of business in No. 109, where Caelen Carson graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick143 Rnd5 Isaiah Adams
Isaiah Adams at slot 143 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187 Rnd6 Decamerion Richardson
They read the board right and Decamerion Richardson was the payoff at the 187th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick197 Rnd6 Anthony Gould
Taking Anthony Gould in pick 197 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
