FutureA-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Falcons: B. The Falcons treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 3 slot on Darius Robinson a full 47 spots early. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick No. 13 they get a problem off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ja'Lynn Polk
A reach on Ja'Lynn Polk in pick 43; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74
Rnd3
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the 74th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
DJ James
DJ James at No. 109 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick112
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
They took Leonard Taylor III at par in the 112th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick145
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
Circle this one: Ainias Smith at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146
Rnd5
Cam Hart
Cam Hart is a better player than slot 146 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick189
Rnd6
Christian Jones
The board had cheaper options than Christian Jones at the 189th pick, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick201
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Gabe Hall. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
Nice patience on Steele Chambers, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 24. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
