FutureB-
Williams should have been long gone. The Falcons pounced, and earned a B+. You build a draft on nights like this. Mario Williams had no business being available in the 245th pick, and the Falcons did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Falcons clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick No. 13 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jack Sawyer
A tidy little value on Jack Sawyer in Round 3, Pick 8, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick108
Rnd4
Max Melton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Max Melton in slot 108. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick145
Rnd5
Reuben Fatheree II
Reuben Fatheree II in the 145th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
They paid sticker price for Jaylan Ford in No. 186, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick202
Rnd6
Keith Randolph Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keith Randolph Jr. in the 202nd pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick229
Rnd7
Erick All
Fair-plus on Erick All, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245
Rnd7
Mario Williams
They robbed the room for Mario Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
