Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Falcons bet the future on Daniels. The board says B.

The Falcons spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The Speights steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 8 they get a long-term answer under center. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at pick 43 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
They paid up for Gabriel Murphy at No. 74 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110 Rnd4 Max Melton
Max Melton in the 110th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick142 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
A tidy little value on Cedric Gray in slot 142, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick189 Rnd6 Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick201 Rnd6 Marcellas Dial
Marcellas Dial in the 201st pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick241 Rnd7 Omar Speights
Omar Speights at Round 7, Pick 21 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
