The Falcons looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Paris Shand at slot 221 regardless, 48 picks early. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Brown at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
