FutureD
The Falcons finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B. The Falcons did not so much draft MJ Sherman as overpay for him, 90 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The Newton steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In No. 8 they get the arm they will build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
They paid up for Kris Jenkins at the 43rd pick when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74
Rnd3
Josh Newton
They let Josh Newton come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 10. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick109
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A reach on Sataoa Laumea in the 109th overall pick; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick119
Rnd4
Moose Muhammad III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Moose Muhammad III this early at pick No. 119. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick145
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
They liked Darius Robinson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 145. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189
Rnd6
T.J. Sanders
A conviction pick on T.J. Sanders at No. 189 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick201
Rnd6
MJ Sherman
A swing that ignored the value entirely, MJ Sherman well ahead of where he belonged. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick244
Rnd7
DeMonte Capehart
A wild overpay on DeMonte Capehart in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
