FutureA
The Falcons won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Falcons spent Round 6, Pick 22 on Sam Hartman, a name most had 61 spots down the list.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They banked enough surplus on Rouse to cover a lot of smaller sins. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In the end it comes back to Chop Robinson, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
A tidy little value on Chop Robinson in the 26th pick, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick43
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 11, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick57
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chris Braswell in pick No. 57. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
Somehow Xavier Worthy was still sitting there in slot 74, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in pick 109 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick125
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
They paid sticker price for Isaac Guerendo in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick143
Rnd5
Johnny Wilson
The board had Johnny Wilson higher than slot 143, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick158
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick187
Rnd6
Walter Rouse
They will replay Walter Rouse at Round 6, Pick 12 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick197
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
A wild overpay on Sam Hartman in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
