Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD+
Maye is the plan now, and the Falcons grade out a D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Falcons did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

They have staked the next five years on Drake Maye, which is the only story that really matters here. They are betting Wiley proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

On value alone, Corum makes the weekend a net positive. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get the face of the franchise. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson slipping to the 35th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick43 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at No. 43 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at pick No. 74 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in pick 87, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick110 Rnd4 Blake Corum
Blake Corum at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick142 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
Fair-plus on Theo Johnson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley in the 173rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick199 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
Caedan Wallace in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
