The Falcons let Majors fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Falcons were there to profit. Jake Majors, the No. 93 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 126. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The back end got a real overhaul.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In pick No. 15 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value.
Pick57
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Nice patience on Tyler Warren, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
Good price on Barrett Carter in slot 89, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
They barely believed it either: Kevin Winston Jr. still on the board at No. 117. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jake Majors
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach the 126th overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick218
Rnd7
Xavier Nwankpa
Circle this one: Xavier Nwankpa at pick 218 is a fall that decides a draft. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick238
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at Round 7, Pick 22 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
