Jildi DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons

Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureB
The Falcons bet the future on Daniels. The board says B. The Tanor Bortolini selection is the head-turner. The Falcons reached 75 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jenkins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In slot 20 they get a long-term answer under center, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Good price on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 43rd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick51
Rnd2
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at the 51st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74
Rnd3
Kris Jenkins
A edge rusher of that caliber at No. 74 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick79
Rnd3
Malik Washington
Value said wait; Malik Washington in pick No. 79 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick84
Rnd3
Javon Foster
They left a pile of value on the table to take Javon Foster this early at pick 84. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick110
Rnd4
Renardo Green
No edge and no loss on Renardo Green in the 110th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick142
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tanor Bortolini. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick199
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Steele Chambers at Round 6, Pick 24 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
