Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers let Thieneman fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Dillon Thieneman, the No. 35 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 2 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. No fireworks, but a solid B.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A real need, handled.
Pick58 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
The board fumbled Dillon Thieneman all the way to slot 58, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick92 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch slid further than he should have, and the 92nd pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick127 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at the 127th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick133 Rnd4 Eli Raridon
A tidy bit of business in No. 133, where Eli Raridon graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick138 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
They let J.C. Davis come to them and pounced at pick No. 138. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst is a better player than Round 5, Pick 33 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
