FutureA+
Good, not great, for the Falcons: B. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Oluwafemi Oladejo in the 87th pick, a good 154 spots before the room expected him. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Brooks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
The Trenton Simpson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick54
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
No edge and no loss on Josaiah Stewart in the 54th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick59
Rnd2
Darien Porter
A big swing on Darien Porter at No. 59, well ahead of any board in the building. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick87
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oluwafemi Oladejo well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 92 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
A premium they did not need to pay, Terrance Ferguson a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kevin Winston Jr. at Round 4, Pick 16. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick213
Rnd6
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in No. 213 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick244
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks in the 244th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
