Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Chargers a B+.

The Chargers put a flag in the ground for Jasheen Davis, 141 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

Nelson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Cody Mauch pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick 30 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
Nothing to complain about; JT Tuimoloau went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Kalel Mullings
The board had Kalel Mullings higher than pick No. 124, and the running back fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kyren Lacy
Somehow Kyren Lacy was still sitting there in No. 159, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick177 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson at Round 5, Pick 38 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick183 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ollie Gordon II at the 183rd overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick201 Rnd6 Roc Taylor
Fair-plus on Roc Taylor, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215 Rnd6 Trey Moore
Trey Moore at slot 215 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jasheen Davis
A real head-scratcher, Jasheen Davis in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick237 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the 237th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick253 Rnd7 Eli Cox
Eli Cox in No. 253 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
