Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Patriots: B-.

The Patriots went off the board in a big way for Trey Moore, 45 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Moore at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Dani Dennis-Sutton
In pick 29 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Cayden Green
A straight-up fair deal on Cayden Green at pick No. 44, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick76 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the 76th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick93 Rnd3 Domani Jackson
They jumped the gun on Domani Jackson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick112 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Tacario Davis in slot 112 leaves interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick116 Rnd4 Charles Jagusah
Nothing to complain about; Charles Jagusah went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick129 Rnd4 Terry Moore
Terry Moore at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
They did well to land Earnest Greene III in the 151st pick, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick190 Rnd6 Trey Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Moore well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick212 Rnd6 Hykeem Williams
The board had Hykeem Williams higher than the 212th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick218 Rnd7 J.Michael Sturdivant
They let J.Michael Sturdivant come to them and pounced at pick No. 218. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick225 Rnd7 Rueben Owens
A big swing on Rueben Owens at Round 7, Pick 9, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
