Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Washington: D+.

The phones were a trap the Browns kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Landing Washington that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
In the 27th pick they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick32 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin at pick 32 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick35 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
They paid sticker price for Chop Robinson in pick No. 35, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
They took Ruke Orhorhoro at par in the 66th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76 Rnd3 Junior Colson
A straight-up fair deal on Junior Colson at slot 76, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick86 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Blake Corum at Round 3, Pick 23. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138 Rnd5 Malik Washington
The board fumbled Malik Washington all the way to Round 5, Pick 2, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159 Rnd5 Cedric Johnson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Johnson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick205 Rnd6 Miyan Williams
Miyan Williams in pick 205 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick208 Rnd6 Omar Speights
By-the-book stuff, Omar Speights at No. 208 squarely in line with his ranking. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick231 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick234 Rnd7 Steele Chambers
Good price on Steele Chambers in the 234th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
