FutureC-
The Eagles won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B. The Eagles ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Cole to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 34 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick39
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
The board had cheaper options than Cooper Beebe at slot 39, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick50
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at the 50th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick57
Rnd2
Kris Abrams-Draine
A real head-scratcher, Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 57 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick89
Rnd3
Braelon Allen
They paid up for Braelon Allen at the 89th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
A reach for Jalen McMillan in Round 3, Pick 27; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster in pick 103 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at Round 4, Pick 20 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125
Rnd4
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett at pick 125 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
By-the-book stuff, Kamal Hadden at pick No. 161 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Jaheim Bell. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick172
Rnd5
Myles Cole
Myles Cole at the 172nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at No. 210 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
