Quarterback settled, McCarthy in the fold, and a B- for the Bears.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent Round 7, Pick 36 on Cornelius Johnson, a name most had 123 spots down the list. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They have staked the next five years on J.J. McCarthy, which is the only story that really matters here. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Landing Lovett that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
