Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Vikings this weekend: B+.

The Bear Alexander selection is the head-turner. The Vikings reached 33 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Love falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Azeez Al-Shaair deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 22 they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kayden McDonald
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kayden McDonald in pick 37. The roster fit checks out.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
No drama and no debate, Jake Slaughter went about where he belonged in the 43rd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe is a better player than Round 3, Pick 11 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick97 Rnd3 Tacario Davis
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tacario Davis well ahead of where he belonged. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
They took Jacob Rodriguez at par in No. 161, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick197 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
A straight-up fair deal on Evan Stewart at slot 197, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick226 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander in the 226th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick242 Rnd7 Malik Hartford
Nice patience on Malik Hartford, who had no business lasting to the 242nd overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
