brabazonlaw DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the 91st overall pick on Roger Rosengarten, a name the board had a full 44 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That Bullard pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In pick 25 they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at pick No. 41 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick58
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
A conviction pick on Ruke Orhorhoro at slot 58 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in No. 88 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91
Rnd3
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick126
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
Elijah Jones slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 26 is lovely value for the cornerback. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick169
Rnd5
Myles Cole
They left a pile of value on the table to take Myles Cole this early at pick No. 169. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick202
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson at No. 202 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick219
Rnd6
Dominique Hampton
Dominique Hampton in the 219th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick245
Rnd7
Matthew Jones
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Matthew Jones. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick255
Rnd7
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 255 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
