Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Jaguars: B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Ja'Corey Brooks at the 194th pick. The Jaguars jumped the board by 37 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

McCord at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Armand Membou
Armand Membou at the 5th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Watts at the 36th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jalen Royals
Fair-plus on Jalen Royals, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in slot 88 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
They paid sticker price for Jordan Phillips in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick126 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Good price on Dorian Strong in Round 4, Pick 24, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick142 Rnd5 Kyle McCord
A quarterback of that caliber at slot 142 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at No. 182 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick194 Rnd6 Ja'Corey Brooks
They reached a country mile for Ja'Corey Brooks at the 194th pick, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick221 Rnd7 Jalen McLeod
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Jalen McLeod graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
