Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chargers: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chargers spent pick 181 on Max Brosmer, a name the board had a full 136 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Moore at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Derrick Harmon
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
A conviction pick on Jayden Higgins at No. 55 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at slot 86 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick125 Rnd4 Oluwafemi Oladejo
They jumped the gun on Oluwafemi Oladejo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick158 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at pick No. 158 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick181 Rnd6 Max Brosmer
Max Brosmer at the 181st pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick199 Rnd6 Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai at the 199th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick209 Rnd6 Caleb Rogers
Nice patience on Caleb Rogers, who had no business lasting to the 209th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick214 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Joshua Gray at Round 6, Pick 38 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick256 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at No. 256 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
