Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueA- NeedC+ TradesC+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Seahawks and Pieper: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Kade Pieper at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Johnson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, linebacker and other spots. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Will Echoles
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jamari Johnson
A surprising call. With edge rusher, linebacker and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 55 on Jamari Johnson, a tight end they were not short of.
Pick86 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
They robbed the room for Kade Pieper here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick100 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor in slot 100 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick101 Rnd3 Greg Johnson
Taking Greg Johnson in the 101st overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick135 Rnd4 Earl Little Jr.
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, linebacker and other spots to take Earl Little Jr., a safety that was not the priority.
Pick177 Rnd5 Eli Bowen
Eli Bowen at the 177th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick201 Rnd6 Braelin Moore
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Braelin Moore in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
