Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureA+
Maye is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Murphy reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In pick 6 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick9
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker in the 70th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
A reach for Gabriel Murphy in slot 75; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in pick No. 122; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
