Kiyoshi Sabers DRAFTING FOR THEEagles

Draft Grade — Eagles

FutureB-
The Eagles kept it disciplined and banked a B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Eagles would have aced it. Jalen Rivers at No. 219 is 149 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick44
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at the 44th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick64
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins slid further than he should have, and the 64th pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor in Round 3, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick96
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Denzel Burke. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier in slot 99 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134
Rnd4
Que Robinson
They reached a country mile for Que Robinson at No. 134, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick161
Rnd5
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne is a better player than Round 5, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A big swing on Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
A premium they did not need to pay, Jack Kiser a notch or two before his time. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick183
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams slipping to slot 183 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jalen Travis
A wild overpay on Jalen Travis in the 210th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick219
Rnd7
Jalen Rivers
Jalen Rivers at the 219th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
