Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall C
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureC
A mixed bag for the Eagles, and a C to match.

The curious call sets the tone. With safety, quarterback and other spots still glaring, the Eagles used the 120th pick on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not exactly short of. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.

That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hall Jr.. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Hit on Quinyon Mitchell and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They liked Edgerrin Cooper enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick50 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Good price on Xavier Worthy in the 50th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick54 Rnd2 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at pick No. 54 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick85 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
Value with a capital V on Michael Hall Jr. in slot 85, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
They paid a round early for Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at No. 100 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120 Rnd4 Javon Solomon
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at safety, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Pick161 Rnd5 James Williams
They paid up for James Williams at pick 161 when waiting would have done the job. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick171 Rnd5 Cedric Johnson
A big swing on Cedric Johnson at the 171st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172 Rnd5 Fabien Lovett
They jumped the gun on Fabien Lovett, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210 Rnd6 Cody Schrader
They paid sticker price for Cody Schrader in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
