FutureB+
The Eagles fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Eagles started one anyway for Sam Hartman, 33 picks ahead of schedule.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The veteran additions, T.J. Edwards chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In the 22nd pick they get an island corner, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk in pick No. 54 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick93
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving in pick 93 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
They took Tykee Smith at par in No. 97, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
No edge and no loss on Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick163
Rnd5
Ethan Driskell
Value said wait; Ethan Driskell in Round 5, Pick 27 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick167
Rnd5
Brennan Jackson
They paid sticker price for Brennan Jackson in the 167th pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172
Rnd5
Emani Bailey
They liked Emani Bailey enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 172. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick178
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
They reached into another round for Sam Hartman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick243
Rnd7
Carson Steele
They went early on Carson Steele in pick 243, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
