Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Eagles to a C+.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Eagles took Jah Joyner a full 58 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Getting Etienne where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Adding Jerome Baker by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 32nd pick they get an enforcer at safety, outstanding value to boot.
Pick96 Rnd3 Jah Joyner
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jah Joyner this early at No. 96. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Joshua Farmer at the 134th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool at pick 161 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick164 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
A premium they did not need to pay, Cobee Bryant a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick165 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Somehow Trevor Etienne was still sitting there in slot 165, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick168 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick No. 168 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick225 Rnd7 LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester at the 225th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
