Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Eagles. The tape said wait; the Eagles did not. Vincent Anthony Jr. went at No. 129, a good 64 picks before the board was ready. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Jackson at that price is a win they earned.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In slot 15 they get a rangy last line of defense, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick69
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Domonique Orange. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129
Rnd4
Vincent Anthony Jr.
Vincent Anthony Jr. at Round 4, Pick 29 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
They went early on Iapani Laloulu in No. 150, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick155
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in pick 155 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick162
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
They left a pile of value on the table to take Oscar Delp this early at No. 162. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick180
Rnd5
Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson at the 180th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241
Rnd7
Desmond Reid
Nothing to complain about; Desmond Reid went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jalen Thompson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Thompson well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick257
Rnd7
Alex Birchmeier
Alex Birchmeier at pick 257 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
