904 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

FutureB-
Barton should have been long gone. The Jaguars pounced, and earned a B-. Of all the ways to open, the Jaguars chose the head-scratcher, spending pick 116 on Justin Eboigbe with safety, linebacker and other spots still wide open. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Barton. They will need Taylor III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In No. 17 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Graham Barton in slot 48 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick79
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in the 79th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96
Rnd3
Leonard Taylor III
A reach on Leonard Taylor III in the 96th pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick114
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
They took Darius Robinson at par in Round 4, Pick 14, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick116
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
They bypassed pressing needs at safety, linebacker and other spots to take Justin Eboigbe, an edge rusher that was not the priority.
Pick155
Rnd5
Delmar Glaze
They paid up for Delmar Glaze at pick 155 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
They paid sticker price for Jared Wiley in the 195th overall pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick211
Rnd6
Sheridan Jones
No edge and no loss on Sheridan Jones in pick 211; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick237
Rnd7
Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus in pick No. 237 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
