Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureF
Larceny in pick 213 lands the Bears a F, Henderson and all.

The war room fell hard for Jacob Dobbs, and it showed at No. 215: 76 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. There is no dressing it up: a F.

Henderson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Spending an early pick on safety with running back and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In pick No. 19 they get juice off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick21 Rnd1 Landon Jackson
In slot 21 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick23 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the 23rd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at Round 2, Pick 1 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick47 Rnd2 Shilo Sanders
They talked themselves into Shilo Sanders at pick 47, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jaeden Roberts
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaeden Roberts. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick51 Rnd2 Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans at No. 51 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick53 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jacobee Bryant
Jacobee Bryant at pick No. 54 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick58 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Taking Tyleik Williams in the 58th pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Ashton Gillotte in slot 73, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in the 82nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick85 Rnd3 Sebastian Castro
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 3, Pick 21 on Sebastian Castro with running back and quarterback unsolved.
Pick86 Rnd3 Bryson Nesbit
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Bryson Nesbit at tight end with running back and quarterback open.
Pick100 Rnd4 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at slot 100 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105 Rnd4 Dani Dennis-Sutton
Dani Dennis-Sutton in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick115 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 115 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick117 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
A conviction pick on Derrick Moore at pick No. 117 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Kaimon Rucker
Circle this one: Kaimon Rucker at the 122nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jack Kiser in the 137th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick143 Rnd5 Tyler Baron
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Baron at the 143rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
A straight-up fair deal on Lathan Ransom at No. 149, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick154 Rnd5 J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver slid further than he should have, and the 154th overall pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick164 Rnd6 Caden Prieskorn
The board had Caden Prieskorn higher than the Round 6 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick169 Rnd6 Benjamin Yurosek
A tidy bit of business in slot 169, where Benjamin Yurosek graded well above the range. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick179 Rnd6 Wyatt Milum
The board fumbled Wyatt Milum all the way to Round 6, Pick 19, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189 Rnd6 Steve Linton
Steve Linton at pick 189 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196 Rnd7 Khordae Sydnor
No drama and no debate, Khordae Sydnor went about where he belonged in pick No. 196. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick205 Rnd7 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders in pick 205 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick213 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
They will replay Jason Henderson at Round 7, Pick 21 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick215 Rnd7 Jacob Dobbs
They reached a country mile for Jacob Dobbs at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
