Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The phones sank the Bears this weekend: D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Rattler lower, and that gap is the story. Getting McCormick where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick 13 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Tyler Nubin
In the 27th pick they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Chop Robinson at pick No. 35 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
No edge and no loss on Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 12; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick66 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
They took Brenden Rice at par in the 66th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75 Rnd3 Spencer Rattler
They jumped the gun on Spencer Rattler, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111 Rnd4 Mason McCormick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Mason McCormick at No. 111. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123 Rnd4 Dillon Johnson
A tidy little value on Dillon Johnson in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick143 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
No drama and no debate, Luke McCaffrey went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 7. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
