Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall C+

The Chargers land in the muddy middle: C+.

Nobody else had Jake Majors anywhere near slot 55. The Chargers did, by 47 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

The Sanders steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Tyler Booker
In pick 22 they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jake Majors
They talked themselves into Jake Majors at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 22 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick124 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Fair-plus on Terrance Ferguson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick159 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at slot 159 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177 Rnd5 Nick Nash
The board fumbled Nick Nash all the way to the 177th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick183 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
They will replay Raheim Sanders at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick201 Rnd6 Karene Reid
Nice patience on Karene Reid, who had no business lasting to pick 201. It adds depth where they could use a little.
