The Chargers bled value on every deal, hence the D. Nobody had Ethan Downs this high, and it is not close. The Chargers reached 90 spots to get him at pick 177.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
That Etienne pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
