Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Grand theft in slot 251: the 49ers steal Flournoy and grade out a D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The 49ers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

If Davis pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Flournoy at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A real need, handled.
Pick26 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
They read the board right and Byron Murphy II was the payoff at pick 26. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick31 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the 31st pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Morgan at the 56th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in pick No. 59 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton in No. 63 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick89 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Michael Hall Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jalen McMillan
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen McMillan. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick124 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at slot 124 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the 131st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133 Rnd4 Isaiah Davis
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah Davis. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dwight McGlothern at pick 176 is the proof. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
They did well to land Jaylan Ford in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick215 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
The board had Kendall Milton higher than pick No. 215, and the running back fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick251 Rnd7 Ryan Flournoy
Taking Ryan Flournoy in Round 7, Pick 31 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
