The Cowboys won the night they stopped Paul Jr. from sliding. Grade: B.

Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Chris Paul Jr., the No. 84 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Every board in the league had McLaughlin lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
