Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Eagles, and a C+ to match. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Eagles did exactly that with Mikail Kamara in pick No. 68.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Clark. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
So much rides on Romello Height that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Romello Height
In pick No. 23 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick54
Rnd2
Dani Dennis-Sutton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dani Dennis-Sutton well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68
Rnd3
Mikail Kamara
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mikail Kamara in the 68th overall pick, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick98
Rnd3
Keyron Crawford
Keyron Crawford in slot 98 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122
Rnd4
Deion Burks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Deion Burks at pick 122. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Bud Clark
Bud Clark in the 137th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151
Rnd5
Quintayvious Hutchins
Quintayvious Hutchins in Round 5, Pick 13 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
They read the board right and Bryce Boettcher was the payoff at No. 179. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick201
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
By-the-book stuff, Le'Veon Moss at the 201st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
