The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jeff Caldwell, the No. 222 name on the board, in the 247th pick. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The cost of the Lawrence reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
