The real work happened on the phones. The Bears fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They will need Fidone II to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
