Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B. The Seahawks looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Jalen Travis at No. 234 regardless, 54 picks early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 18 they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
They did well to land Jayden Higgins in Round 2, Pick 31, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in the 82nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
They took Jalen Milroe at par in No. 92, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick133
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
They barely believed it either: Terrance Ferguson still on the board at slot 133. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick137
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Hollin Pierce. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick172
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 172 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick175
Rnd5
Que Robinson
The board had cheaper options than Que Robinson at slot 175, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
They paid up for Bilhal Kone at the 223rd pick when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
Jalen Travis in Round 7, Pick 18 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
