The board owed the Bears one, and it paid up: Kayden McDonald, the No. 23 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 30 like a gift left on the doorstep. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

Zuhn III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Bears indulged a want in McNeil-Warren while a need in running back, cornerback and other spots stayed open.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
