Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureA+
Grand theft in No. 217: the Browns steal Giddens and grade out a B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. DJ Giddens tumbling to the Browns in Round 6, Pick 39 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

Reaching for McLaughlin left real value on the table behind him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the 15th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Kenneth Grant worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick34 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in pick No. 34 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick45 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
No edge and no loss on Aireontae Ersery in slot 45; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick65 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Nothing to complain about; Azareye'h Thomas went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Xavier Restrepo
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Restrepo. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick80 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at pick 80 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick94 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
A tidy bit of business in the 94th pick, where Mason Taylor graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick103 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Fair-plus on Charles Grant, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the 104th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165 Rnd5 Billy Bowman Jr.
Somehow Billy Bowman Jr. was still sitting there in No. 165, and they pounced on premier safety value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick181 Rnd6 Logan Brown
Circle this one: Logan Brown at pick 181 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick194 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 194th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jonas Sanker
A reach on Jonas Sanker in slot 202; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick216 Rnd6 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at pick No. 216 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick217 Rnd6 DJ Giddens
Steal is underselling it; DJ Giddens at Round 6, Pick 39 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick221 Rnd7 Jacob Parrish
A tidy little value on Jacob Parrish in pick No. 221, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick244 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at No. 244 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257 Rnd7 Brady Cook
The board had cheaper options than Brady Cook at Round 7, Pick 39, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
