Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Pregnon from sliding. Grade: B.

When a board-topper like Emmanuel Pregnon slides to the 58th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the 49ers did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles is a better player than pick No. 31 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 58 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 92 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
Fair-plus on Jakobe Thomas, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138 Rnd4 Malik Benson
Malik Benson at slot 138 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick171 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
Nice patience on Aaron Graves, who had no business lasting to the 171st overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick207 Rnd6 Miles Kitselman
No drama and no debate, Miles Kitselman went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 28. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
