FutureA+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a A-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will answer for taking defensive back early while interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots went begging. The Bears paired the rookies with proven help, Cole Strange leading the way.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Bottom line, with Marvin Harrison Jr. leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 3 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick5
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In No. 5 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick21
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 21st pick they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
A curious use of pick 55. Interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots needed the pick; a defensive back in Cooper DeJean did not.
