The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The Knight pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The cost of the Sinnott reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
